The Rajmohan Nath AI Centre Of Excellence (AEC) at Assam Engineering College (AEC) proposes to create a world-class ecosystem for AI innovation, entrepreneurship, and global venture collaboration from the Northeast region of India.

Why AI : Artificial Intelligence (AI) is no longer a futuristic concept — it is a transformative force reshaping industries, governance, and human interaction at an unprecedented scale. From revolutionizing healthcare and agriculture to optimizing logistics and enabling personalized education, AI is unlocking efficiencies and opportunities across every sector. For a region like Northeast India, with rich human potential but limited access to deep-tech ecosystems, AI presents a leapfrogging opportunity — enabling startups to build scalable, globally relevant solutions from right here in Assam. By focusing on AI, the Rajmohan Nath Memorial Foundation aims to empower students, researchers, and entrepreneurs to harness cutting-edge technology to solve real-world problems, generate employment, and attract national and international investments to the region. This focus aligns with both India’s National AI Strategy and the global demand for AI-based innovations, positioning Assam Engineering College as a leader in deep-tech innovation from the East.

Mr. Dilip Bharatee (Chairman)

Mr. Dilip is an Alumni of the College of Technology and Engineering from the batch of 1978-84. He is a software industry veteran from Bangalore. He joined the software Industry after completing his master’s from Indian Institute of Management Mumbai in 1986. He was the first employee of Sonata Software limited and handled Business development for the European Market. He played a key role in making Sonata software public in 1998. He along with his wife Ms. Archana Bharatee started their IT consulting services company Ecom Science Consulting Private Ltd. in the year 2000. He works with several start-up software companies to provide the Sales and Marketing direction and advisory.

He has been volunteering for 12 years with Parijat Academy, a school for underprivileged children in Guwahati, and Vidya the Living School in Assam. He co-founded Joonbai Handloom Foundation, promoting reusable sanitary pads “Janani”, and set up production centers across Assam, expanding to Mizoram and Tripura. He also helped establish a banana fiber extraction unit at Vidya, providing youth with entrepreneurship training.

Jyotirmoy Chakravorty – Founder & CEO, Ubona Technologies

Jyotirmoy Chakravorty (JC) is the Founder and CEO of Ubona Technologies, a pioneer in AI-powered customer communication and experience solutions. With over 30 years of experience, JC has been at the forefront of conceptualizing, developing, and deploying cutting-edge technology for mass consumer adoption.

Under his leadership, Ubona has become a leading player in conversational automation, cloud-based AI contact centers, and speech analytics, with products serving millions. Prior to Ubona, JC held leadership roles at July Systems, eCapital, and Wipro, shaping market-leading solutions and driving business growth.

A thought leader in AI-powered automation, JC holds multiple patents in mobile payments, policy-based access control, and super distribution. Known for his innovative vision and strategic expertise, JC continues to redefine the possibilities of technology in transforming customer experiences globally.

About Atindra Barua

Advisor, Alumni – Assam Engineering College

Atindra Barua is a seasoned entrepreneurial executive with over 30 years of experience at the intersection of financial services and technology. He is the founder of TrustFort, a pioneering IT solutions company serving the broker/dealer community, which grew into a global operation with offices in the U.S. and India. Under his leadership, TrustFort entered a successful joint venture and acquisition journey—first with American Portfolios in 2015 and later as part of Osaic, backed by Reverence Capital.

Prior to founding TrustFort, Atindra was Head of Product Development for the Global Markets Division of State Street Bank, a member of the S&P 500 index. The products were designed for use by global institutional asset managers. Here one of his products achieved 70% market share globally in the inter-bank market.

Atindra has held senior executive roles including CEO, CTO, and EVP, leading product innovation, business restructuring, and offshore delivery models. With roots in engineering and an MBA from Boston University, he has worked extensively across North America and Europe, building scalable solutions for capital markets, trading systems, and portfolio optimization. Outside of work, he is a passionate father, traveler, contemporary art enthusiast, and golfer.

About Rahul Khound

Rahul Khound is a seasoned supply chain and operations leader with nearly 30 years of global experience. Currently the Chief Supply Chain Officer at Whole Earth Brands, he has a distinguished track record of driving end-to-end supply chain transformation, enhancing operational efficiency, and building high-performing teams across geographies. With a foundation in mechanical engineering from Assam Engineering College, Rahul has held strategic leadership roles at Tata Consumer Products and Tata Global Beverages in both the U.S. and India. He is deeply committed to creating customer-centric, resilient supply chains that align business goals with operational excellence.

Mr. Abhijit Bhuyan

Mr. Abhijit Bhuyan is a distinguished alumnus of Assam Engineering College, graduating in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in 1991. He brings over 30 years of rich experience spanning Information Technology, Biomedical Instrumentation, e-Governance consulting, and venture funding strategy.

Mr. Bhuyan is the Managing Director and Co-Founder of Bohniman Systems Pvt. Ltd., a CMMI Level 3 company specializing in delivering mission-critical IT solutions and product innovations, with a track record of over two decades in India and international markets.

He began his career with prestigious organizations like Larsen & Toubro and Datex-Ohmeda (a global leader in medical technologies), where he gained specialized expertise in Radiology and ICU equipment, including ventilators. Later, as Country Manager for MEDOS AG (Germany), he managed operations across India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, contributing to the growth of specialized medical device adoption in South Asia.

Mr. Bhuyan is a recognized solution architect and strategist, known for conceptualizing innovative solutions at a fraction of traditional costs, making high-end technology accessible even in resource-constrained environments. He has been instrumental in developing a blood pump for ECMO applications in partnership with German engineers, successfully exiting by selling the design to a Netherlands-based company.

He is also deeply engaged in venture funding, currently partnering to launch the first privately-held VC fund focused on startups in the North-East India region, recently approved by SEBI.

Ms. Archana Bharatee (Advisor)

Archana Bharatee is a seasoned technology leader with over three decades of experience in engineering, software development, and AI-driven innovation. She is the Co-Founder of SenseiAlgo, where she specializes in leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to develop scalable solutions across diverse business applications.

As the Founder and Technology Director of eComScience Consulting Pvt. Ltd., she has spearheaded IT consulting and software development for banks, financial institutions, and insurance providers across global markets. Previously, she held senior roles at Citicorp Information Technology Industries Ltd (I-Flex Solutions), where she contributed to the development of Flexcube, a globally recognized banking solution. Her expertise also extends to software development for ANZ Information Technology and Sonata Software Ltd.

An alumna of IIM Mumbai (NITIE, Industrial Engineering & Management), Archana has been at the forefront of deploying cutting-edge technologies. Beyond her professional achievements, she is deeply committed to social impact, actively working towards improving rural education in India by supporting initiatives that enhance accessibility to quality learning.

Ankur Goswami ( CEO in residence )

Co-Founder- Director of B2Bflywheel, : Ankur Goswami is an entrepreneur and leading a marketing consulting firm based in Assam, India. With an educational background comprising a Bachelor's degree in Economics and an MBA in Marketing and Human Resources, he has also qualified for the UGC NET Management certification. Also he co-founded Digital Compassion, a non-profit organization focused on building computer labs for visually impaired students and promoting education for the underprivileged in Assam. His previous professional experience includes roles as a Marketing Consultant at eComScience Consulting Pvt Ltd and Sales Officer at Polycab India Limited.
